Meet Our Pastor

Rev. Carl Roth was born in Bryan, Texas on December 26, 1976 to Homer and Annie Roth of Normangee, Texas, and was born into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism on that same day. He has two beloved sisters by nature and one brother by grace, Michael and Clare (nee Roth) Staub and Kathryn Roth. His Christian faith was nourished at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Zulch, Texas. Later he graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station in May 2000 with a BBA in Accounting and a MS in Management Information Systems. He then worked for two years as a Systems Analyst for Deloitte Consulting in Houston, Texas, before entering Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in September 2002. From July 2004 until August 2005,  he served as Vicar at  Memorial Lutheran Church  in  Houston,  Texas,  under the

supervision of the Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray. In September 2005, he returned to Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity in May 2006. While at Concordia, he sang for two years in the Seminary Kantorei, a  sixteen-man choir, and was privileged to be with them when they visited Grace Lutheran Church in January 2004. He was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry at Memorial Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas on June 18, 2006 and installed as Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Livingston, Texas on June 25, 2006, where he served until January 17, 2010. Pastor Roth has served as Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas since January 31, 2010.

​In the summer of 2003, Pastor Roth was introduced to his future wife, Heidi (nee Miller), by a mutual friend. On August 21, 2004 they were married at Memorial Lutheran Church in Houston. Their daughter, Grace Ann, was born a little over a year later. They have been blessed with seven children: Grace Ann, Emma, Samuel, Abigail, Silas, Lydia, and Joanna.​

​​Pastor Roth earned a MS in Classics (Greek and Latin Languages and Literature) from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2022. He serves as the Senior Editor of LOGIA: A Journal of Lutheran Theologythe Chairman of the Board of Directors of Luther Academy, and the Treasurer of the Randolph Memorial Endowment Fund. He is a regular guest on Sharper Iron and The Coffee Hour on KFUO, the radio station of the LCMS.
