Meet our Pastor

Our pastor, Bryan Sullivan, began his preparation for the Holy Ministry, as was customary at that time, at age fourteen. He was a preministerial student at Lutheran Concordia College in Austin, Texas. Later he attended Austin Community College and The University of Texas. Pastor Sullivan received his Bachelor of Theology degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in 1978. He continued with post-graduate study and received his Master of Divinity from the same institution in 1987.

Rev. Sullivan's vicarage (internship) and first pastorate were at Memorial Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. After three years in Houston, he accepted the call to be the Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas. Here he has served since 1980.

Pastor Sullivan is married to the former Gail Bachmeyer of the Noack/Beyersville community of central Texas. Gail is an accomplished artist and decorator. She was a teacher in the Elgin Public Schools for a number of years. The Sullivans have three daughters and one son, all grown. They also have seven grandchildren.

Pastor Sullivan's special interests are preaching and teaching. He has also served as counselor to dozens of people, both church members and others in the community. He served the larger church body as a Circuit Counselor for many years. Over the years he has had a number of opportunities to leave Grace for other parishes, but has always believed that he was where the Lord wanted him already.
